Zambia’s sugar industry has healthy future says Rabobank [Registered]

Zambian sugar industry is poised for growth notes Rabobank in its latest assessment of the country’s industry. The report, however, stresses that there are some significant challenges that need to be addressed for further expansion and attracting global investors. These includes government making more land available for investment, continued improvement in crop management for increasing cane productivity, and upgrades local infrastructure. Zambia currently produces about 450,000 tonnes of raw sugar of which around 185,000 tonnes is consumed locally, and the rest is destined for export.
