World raw sugar futures hover above 30 cents in volatile trading – mid-December ’10 [Registered]

World sugar futures ended firmer on bullish outside factors such as higher energy prices. News that India would allow 500,000 tonnes of additional sugar exports failed to impress the market. The front-month March contract gained 33 points to 31.11 cents/lb with May adding 36 points to 28.07 cents. The rest of the board was up 8 to 28 points in estimated volume of 91,106 lots.
