Wilmar acquires a stake in Shree Renuka Sugars [Registered]

Singapore’s Wilmar International is investing up to $145 million for a major stake in India’s Shree Renuka Sugars. The transaction, which will be completed in multiple steps, will see Wilmar – the world’s top palm oil processor with business interests in sugar, lauric oils and other commodities – and the founders of the Indian company owning equal stakes in Shree Renuka, reports Reuters. Shree Renuka Sugars has seven sugar mills in India and four in centre-south Brazil, with a total annual crushing capacity of 20.7 million tonnes, more than Wilmar’s current 17 million tonnes.
