Vietnam – Government needs to incentivise millers to cogenerate power [Registered]
Calls from the industry for the government to incentivise bagasse-based cogeneration have been forcefully made. Out of 41 plants, only six are using bagasse to generate electricity. To date, only 100 million kWh a year is cogenerated. This figure could be ten times more as sugar mills produce 4.5 million tons of bagasse a year, enough to produce 1.2 billion -1.4 billion kWh, according to a Tuoi Tre newspaper report.
