USA – LSU AgCenter to open a plant producing syrups for biochemicals production [Registered]

The LSU AgCenter Audubon Sugar Institute plans a January 25 opening for a pilot plant designed to produce syrups from sweet sorghum and energy cane that will converted by its industrial partners into biofuels and biochemicals. The industrial partners include well known players in the sector including DuPont, Virent, SynGest and Ceres. Professor Vadim Kochergin in charge of the unit said that our”industrial partners – Virent, DuPont, and SynGest [in particular] will be using the syrups for downstream conversions to gasoline fractions, chemical s and isoprene.
