US sugar producers file petition against Mexico for dumping sugar [Registered]
U.S. sugar industry groups recently accused Mexican exporters of dumping cheap, subsidized supplies on the US market, which has the potential to escalate into a trade war, not only affecting sugar. The Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack was less than sanguine about this move, saying “We are at a very delicate circumstance with Mexico on a variety of issues. I am sure they don’t see this as a particularly friendly gesture.
