US-Mexico sugar trade dispute – sense of fair play lacking [Registered]

In 1981, I was in Australia, studying for a master’s degree. I well remember watching the one day international between Australia and New Zealand which has become cause célèbre in the game of cricket. The New Zealand team was batting and needed six runs from the last ball. The Australian cricket captain Greg Chappell told his brother Trevor, who happened to be the bowler, to bowl underarm, and thereby deprive the batsman any chance of hitting a ‘six’. While this was legal at the time (but banned since the incident), it was certainly not in the spirit of cricketing fair…
