Ukraine – 2013/14 beet acreage to decrease by 25% [Registered]

Combination of low sugar price, lack of export markets and high production cost is likely to result in beet acreage decreasing from 450,000 hectares in the previous year to 350,000 ha in 2013, according to the recent USDA report. This will probably result in beet sugar production declining by 20%. Sugar production in 2012/13 was 2.1 million tonnes.
