Uganda – Expansion in sugar production continues [Registered]

Sugar output by Uganda’s three top producers is likely to increase for a third successive year in 2014 on the back expansion in cane acreage and increase in crushing capacity. According to Wilberforce Mubiru, the secretariat manager for the Kampala-based Uganda Sugar Manufacturers’Association representing country’s three top producers, combined production is expected to increase to 375,000 tonnes, from 356,660 tonnes last year.
