TMO Renewables expands into the production of polylactic acid [Registered]

The UK start-up TMO Renewables recently announce that it is expanding into the production of polylactic acid (PLA) in addition to cellulosic ethanol. This is likely to commence in the fourth quarter of 2014, at their site near Guildford, Surrey. The facility is expected to produce 3,000 tonnes PLA annually. Blayne Jackson, head of business relations at TMO Renewables said that “PLA production unit but will coincide with the company’s second generation ethanol plant which is being built in Brazil”.
