Thailand – New build, U$213 million 18,000 tcd sugar factory attracts investment from a Japanese sugar trading house [Registered]

Wangkanai Group, Thailand’s fourth largest sugar company, is partnering with Japan’s trading company to build a 18,000 tonnes cane/day (tcd) capacity sugar mill in Nong Mamong district of Chai Nat province. The Wangchainat mill will attract joint investment of Bt7 billion (U$213 million), according to the local press The Nation. The move coincides with the government’s strategy to increase sugar production to address the structural deficit in markets within and outside the ASEAN Economic Community.
