The Swiss-based food processing and packaging solutions provider Tetra Pak recently launched the industry’s first totally biobased packaging materials carton — Tetra Rex. Tetra Rex carton is developed in partnership with the biopolymer manufacturer Braskem. It will be available in early 2015. The carton is made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) films and biobased high-density polyethylene (HDPE) caps which are produced from sugarcane. .
