Tereos seeks to expand it sugar and ethanol operations in Brazil [Registered]

Tereos Internacional will invest reais767m ($476m) to expand its Brazilian sugar and ethanol subsidiary Guarani over the next four years. Under the plans announced on 8 April, Guarani’s total cane crushing capacity will rise by 3.5 million tonnes per year to 24.5 million tonnes. This would boost total sugar production capacity by around 170,000 tonnes and ethanol capacity by 195 million litres per year. Brazil’s development bank, BNDES, will finance the cost of the expansion almost entirely via a reais764m, 11-year loan. Bagasse based cogeneration capacity will be increased to 1,172 gigawatt hours per year from 259 gigawatt hours currently.…
