Mexico’s sugar export quota to the US for 2015/16 set at 983,247.92 tonnes [Registered]

The fiscal 2016 refined sugar TRQ was established at 145,505 short tons, raw value, of which 123,079 tons is reserved for specialty sugars as defined by the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. The total refined sugar T.R.Q. includes a 24,251-ton minimum W.T.O. commitment, of which 1,825 tons is reserved for specialty sugar.

United States – 2015/16 sugar output forecast to be lower than previous year [Registered]

Beet sugar production for the 2015/16 Aug-Jul period will total about 4.900 mln tons, but fiscal year 2015/16 (Oct/Sep) production is forecast at 4.770 mln as 11% of the 2015/16 sugar beet crop will be harvested in August-September and thus will be accounted for in the estimate of the fiscal year 2014/15 (Oct/Sep) crop.

USA – Abengoa secures US$200 mln contract to build a waste to biofuel plant [Registered]

The Sierra Biofuels plant will process 200,000 tons of municipals solid waste (MSW) into renewable syncrude that will be upgraded to more than 10 million gallons (45,460,900 litres) of jet fuel annually. The company currently holds 20-year feedstock agreements with Waste Management and Waste Connections, as well as an offtake agreement with Cathay Pacific Airways for 10 years.

United States – Sugar output to fall by 1.5% in 2015/16 says USDA [Registered]

USA – Construction of cellulosic sugars and biochemical plant at Raceland [Registered]
