thermoelectric material
International Sugar Journal
The Northwestern development could lead to new thermoelectric devices with potential applications in the automobile industry, glass- and brick-making factories, sugar factories and refineries, coal- and gas-fired power plants, and places where large combustion engines operate continuously (such as in large ships and tankers).
Irradiating thermoelectric material with alpha-particle increases thermopower by 70% [Registered]
“Usually thermopower is enhanced at the cost of a reduction in electrical conductivity,” Wu says, “but we have been able to break this undesired coupling and demonstrate simultaneous increases in electrical conductivity of up to 200%, and thermopower of up to 70%.”
