Malaysia – Sugar refiner MSM sacks its CEO over financial irregularities [Full subscriber]

MSM Malaysia Holdings Berhad (MSM), the country’s leading refined sugar producer has sacked its group chief executive officer (GCEO) Datuk Khairil Anuar Aziz, after the sugar company’s board found his clarification about an adjustment to write off inventories that amounted to MYR36.6 million (US$8.8 million), unacceptable.

China – Mitsui Sugar takes a 20% stake in a sugar refiner [Full subscriber]

Japan’s biggest sugar producer Mitsui Sugar will take a 20% stake in Chinese refiner COFCO Sugar Liaoning, according to local press reports.
