The Angolan bioenergy company Biocom expects to produce 100,000 tonnes of sugar this year, an increase of 37% compared with the 73,000 tonnes produced in 2018, said Luís Júnior, the deputy director general of the company, according to local press reports.
Between January and November 2018, the industry milled 23 million tonnes of cane, that is, 3% percent more than in 2017, with sugar production expected to reach 2.44 million tonnes with an increase of 9% compared to a year ago, according to the Sugar Cane Growers Association of Colombia (Asocaña).

Mexico’s sugar exports are slated to jump over 30 percent in 2018-19 due to the combination of production surplus and reduction in domestic consumption due to health concerns, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) latest attaché report.

Both the Russian Sugar Producers Union (Soyuzrossakhar) and the Russian statistical office (Rosstat) forecast a reduced sugar output than the previous year of 6.62 mln tonnes. Soyuzrossakhar forecasts an output of 6 mln tonnes while Rosstat puts it at between 5.5 mln and 6.3 mln tonnes, according to local press reports.
The Senegalese Sugar Company (CSS) achieved a record production of 144,000 tonnes at the end of the campaign that has just ended, according to local press reports.
Cosumar, the only sugar producer in Morocco, is forecasting the 2017/18 sugar output at 520,000 tonnes, comparable to 515,000 tonnes last year, according to its CEO Mohammed Fikrat. The current campaign is expected to end in August.

Angolan bioenergy company Biocom expects a turnover of US$300 million this year from the output and sale of 100,000 tons of sugar, 20,300 cubic meters of ethanol and 110-gigawatt hours of electricity, according to local press reports.
