Colombia – 2018 sugar output and exports increase by 10% [Full subscriber]

Between January and November 2018, the industry milled 23 million tonnes of cane, that is, 3% percent more than in 2017, with sugar production expected to reach 2.44 million tonnes with an increase of 9% compared to a year ago, according to the Sugar Cane Growers Association of Colombia (Asocaña).

Russia – 2018/19 beet sugar output likely to be between 5.5 mln and 6.3 mln tonnes [Full subscriber]

Both the Russian Sugar Producers Union (Soyuzrossakhar) and the Russian statistical office (Rosstat) forecast a reduced sugar output than the previous year of 6.62 mln tonnes. Soyuzrossakhar forecasts an output of 6 mln tonnes while Rosstat puts it at between 5.5 mln and 6.3 mln tonnes, according to local press reports.

Morocco – 2017/18 sugar output forecast at 520,000 tonnes [Full subscriber]

Cosumar, the only sugar producer in Morocco, is forecasting the 2017/18 sugar output at 520,000 tonnes, comparable to 515,000 tonnes last year, according to its CEO Mohammed Fikrat. The current campaign is expected to end in August.
