The state cabinet approved the incentive for 800,000 tonnes of raw sugar produced in the 2014/15 marketing year ending on September 30. The state has been contemplating export incentives since February and Maharashtra’s co-operative minister Chandrakant Patil had already announced the INR1,000 subsidy on April 14.
Thailand – 2015/16 sugar exports to breach 9 mln tonnes [Registered]
On the back of expansion in cane production estimated to be 107 mln tonnes in 2015/16, and sugar production increasing to 11.4 mln tonnes, up 4% from 2014/15, sugar exports are expected to increase to around 9 mln tonnes, according to US Department of Agriculture’s Bangkok bureau’s latest report.
