Following successful technical trials, specialty chemical maker Archroma has partnered with Stony Creek Colors to market Stony Creek’s IndiGold plant-based pre-reduced indigo dye at scale. Archroma will produce the first batches at its plant in Salvatierra, Mexico using Stony Creek’s natural indigo process and test the resulting dye with its customers in the denim industry.

Japanese chemical company Asahi Kasei is partnering with the biotech start-up Genomatica to commercialize the production of biobased Leona polyamide 6,6 (also called nylon 6,6). To this end, Asahi Kasei will be sourcing Genomatica’s biobased hexamethylenediamine (HMD) process conversion technology.
The market leader and pioneer in biopolymer production, Brazil-based Braskem and the Japanese trading firm Sojitz are partnering to produce and market biobased MEG (mono ethylene glycol) and MPG (mono propylene glycol). This will include constructing three industrial units in a bid to start production in 2025.
