The construction work on a long-awaited sugar refinery project – the first of its kind in Oman – at Sohar Port and Freezone will commence around mid-year. The project was first conceived in 2013, according to local press reports.

The Indian start-up Petiva Group is planning to set up a factory at Salalah Free Zone producing ultra-low calorie, low GI rare sugars from cane sugar using their proprietary process, according to local press reports.
