Finland – Nordic Sugar to expand beet sugar output to 100,000 t post 2017 [Registered]

Nordic Sugar is planning to expand beet sugar production to 100,000 tonnes at its factory Sucros Oy in Finland post abolition of EU sugar quota in 2017, according to local press reports. The current EU beet sugar production quota is 81,000 tonnes.

Finland – Kaidi group plans to build €1bln biofuel plant [Registered]

The plant will produce 200,000 t/y of second-generation biofuels, 75% of which will be biodiesel and the remainder biogasoline. The biorefinery will be the largest single investment ever made by a Chinese company in Finland, and Kaidi has established a Finnish subsidiary to oversee the project.
