Brazil – BNDES approves US$14 million for expanding ethanol storage and cogen capacity at Usina Laguna [Full subscriber]

Brazil’s National Development Bank (BNDES) recently approved financing of BRL 80.2 million (US$ 14.2 million) to expand milling, storage and cogen capacity of the Usina Laguna ethanol plant in the municipality of Bataypora, Mato Grosso do Sul state, according to local press reports.

Cameroon – Sosucam to expand sugar factory capacity by 20,000 tonnes [Full subscriber]

The subsidiary of the French group Somdiaa, Sosucam, plans to increase its annual sugar production to 150,000 tonnes from 130,000 tonnes, according to an agreement with the Promotion Agency investments (API) on 15th May.

Tanzania – UK government supports the construction of 67 km road to aid planned factory capacity expansion at Kilombero Sugar [Full subscriber]

Illovo Sugar’s Kilombero Sugar Company’s planned US$300 million capacity expansion got a boost from the UK government who invested road construction to support cane growers supplying to the factory, to do so with ease. Poor roads in the catchment area has been a major issue for cane growers.
