The duties on imports of raw sugar have been raised to around 7,000 taka (US$90) a tonne from 2,000 taka previously, the official at National Board of Revenue’s customs arm said.

The central excise duty on ethanol is currently 12.36%. The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has notified the withdrawal of this duty on ethanol produced from cane processed molasses during the 2015-16 campaign beginning 1 October 2015, onwards.
