Germany’s sugar industry association WVZ has applied to the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) for the use of neonic thiamethoxam in sugar beet, according to local press reports.
Health and Safety Executive has issued emergency authorisation for the use of InSyst (acetamiprid) on sugar beet following an application by the NFU and British Sugar.

Beet growers have been granted the 120-day emergency authorisation for the use of Biscaya (thiacloprid) against peach-potato aphids to prevent virus yellows infection. The special permission expires on 15 August.
