Brazil – Albioma acquires 60% stake in Jalles Machado cogen unit [Registered]

Albioma, which has decades of experience generating electricity from bagasse in French overseas territories, on 18 December, Albioma signed an agreement with the Jalles Machado group, for the acquisition of 60% of the bagasse cogeneration unit adjacent to the sugar-ethanol plant of the same name in Goianésia (state of Goiás), according to the company’s press release.

Brazil – French power company buys a controlling stake in a cogen plant [Registered]

Commissioned in 2011, the plant is located within a Jalles Machado-owned distillery that processes 1.6 million tons of sugarcane annually. Albioma intends to expand the plant by adding a third 20-MW combustion turbine in the medium term. Coupled with a gradual increase in the volume of sugarcane processed by the distillery to 2.1 million tonnes annually, this move will help boost electricity exports to more than 170 GWh, the company said.
