The Guyana parliament has approved an additional GY$1 billion (US$4.8 million) to support the purchase of agricultural equipment and factory upgrade amidst concerns that the state-owned Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo) company has racked up debt over GY$12 billion so far this year, according to local press reports.
