Sugar sector at odds over 2010 supplies [Registered]

The world sugar industry is currently at odds over the global supply situation, with some forecasters predicting a surplus in the 2010/11 season, while others expect a state of equilibrium, and in some cases, a deficit. In a report released in late August, the International Sugar Organisation (ISO) forecast a global sugar surplus in 2010/11, as a rise in production in India turns the world’s top consumer into an exporter.
