Sugar production needs to increase by 28 million tonnes by 2020 says ISO [Registered]

Rise in global demand will necessitate increase in sugar production by further 28 million tonnes by 2020. Speaking at the Sugar & Ethanol Summit focusing on the Brazilian industry in London on 28th June, L B Rocha stated that Brazil, India and Rest of the World is expected to contribute additional 8 mlt, 2.5 mlt and 17.5 mlt, respectively. Doubts were raised as to how Brazil in particular will be able to expand both cane production and sugar processing capacity.
