Sugar dips to below 16 cents/lb [Registered]
Amidst huge global surplus and expectations of increased output from Brazil on the back of weakening BRL (which is down 9% against the US$ since the start of the year) raw-sugar futures fell below 16 cents a pound for the first time in more than three years. Raw sugar for October on ICE Futures U.S. dipped to 15.93 cents a pound in intraday trade. The contract settled 1% lower at 16 cents a pound, the lowest active-month settlement since June 29, 2010 reported Wall Street Journal.
