Sugar and land sales drive Tongaat Hulett’s half-yearly profits [Registered]

South Africa’s Tongaat Hulett reported a 28 percent rise in first-half profit on 12 November, benefiting from higher sugar and industrial land sales. The company, which has operations in South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Swaziland, produced revenue for the half year rose 23 percent to 7.398 billion rand ($847 million), reported Reuters. The company’s diluted headline earnings per share for the six months to end-September totalled 593.1 cents, up from 462.6 cents last year.
