SucreSource partners Caltex to exploit cellulosic sugar production for biochemicals production [Registered]

SucreSource, a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueFire Renewables, is partnering with GS Caltex, a Korean petroleum company, to build a cellulose to sugar plant in Korea from which to produce high value chemicals. Set up in November last year, SucreSource utilizes BlueFire Renewables’ proven and patented technology Arkenol in which concentrated acid hydrolysis process converts a range of lignocellulosic feedstocks into clean streams of cellulosic sugars. The facility will process 2 tons of construction and demolition debris per day into cellulosic sugar, which will be converted into high value chemicals by GS Caltex’s proprietary technology.
