Sri Lanka – Plans to build 15 sugar factories over next two years [Registered]

The Sri Lankan government is confident of securing private sector investment of some U$ 1 billion to build 15 cane sugar factories within the next two years. “We will get the private sector to make the requisite investment given that the break even point of the investments of the US$ 1050 million (US$ 70 per factory for the 15 factories) will be as short as three years, New Sugar Industries Minister Lakshman Seneviratne told The Island Financial Review recently.
