Slow growth in sugar production in China [Registered]

Sugar production in China increased marginally (by 1.4%) in the first four months of 2011 compared with last year, prompting speculation of increased imports. According to the nation’s statistics bureau, sugar production in the first four months reached 7.82 million tonnes. Sugar output in March was 519,000 tonnes, down from 1.99 million tonnes the previous month.
