Rise in global sugar prices impacts supply to EU [Registered]

While the EU sugar reforms of 2004 increased competitiveness to the market, recent price developments have led to a shortfall in supply, noted Lars Hoelgaard, deputy director general of DG Agri at the European Commission, at the FO Licht Sugar Trade Outlook in Brussels in late June.
