Philippines – New ethanol plant scheduled to come online in May [Registered]

Philippine company Universal Robina Corp invested US$35 million for the building of new 30 million litres/year ethanol plant last year. It is scheduled to be operational in May, according to an informed source. This is two months later than originally planned. Located at the company’s sugar facility at Manjuyod in Negros Oriental province, the plant will run on blackstrap molasses. When production commences, data from the Ethanol Producers Association of the Philippines indicates that total ethanol capacity in the country will rise to 163 million litres/year.
