Peru eyes European ethanol markets [Registered]

Peru is eyeing duty free ethanol exports to California and Europe, as Maple Energy is due to open its first plant in the Latin American country at the end of this year, according to Nabil Katabi, manager of project development. He told the F.O. Licht World Ethanol conference in Geneva that Peru currently had an ethanol mandate of 7.8% in gasoline, which would require some 20 to 22m gallons a year of the biofuel.
