PepsiCo develops its own biobased PET bottle [Registered]

PepsiCo announced in mid March ’11 that it has developed the world’s first biobased PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic bottle. PepsiCo’s “green” bottle is 100 percent recyclable. It is currently made from various feedstocks including switch grass, pine bark and corn husks. In the future, orange peels, potato peels, oat hulls and other agricultural byproducts generated from its foods business will also be added to the feedstock pool.
