Natural parasitisation and incidence of top borer, Scirpophaga excerptalis Walker [Full subscriber]

Natural parasitisation of top borer by commonly occurring parasitoids Rhaconotus sp., Stenobracon sp. and Isotima javensis, was investigated on plant and ratoon sugarcane crops during 2002-2005 at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Average parasitisation by these three parasitoids ranged from 2.3 to 3.0%. The extent of parasitisation by these parasitoids was similar in plant and ratoon crops. Among its five broods, the parasitisation by all the three parasitoids was higher in 3rd and 4th broods than the other three broods. Between 3rd and 4th brood, however, there was no difference.
