Identifying quantitative trait alleles for physiological traits in sugarcane: An exploratory study † [Full subscriber]

This study attempted to shed light on the feasibility of high throughput phenotyping of physiological traits and the detection of quantitative trait alleles (QTA) for these traits. Stalk elongation rate per unit thermal time before and after the 14 leaf stage (SER14and SER24), leaf appearance rate per unit thermal time (LAR14and LAR24), fully expanded leaf area per leaf (LA) and photochemical light use efficiency (PIABS) were measured for 80 clones of a mapping population in three experiments conducted at Mount Edgecombe, South Africa.
