Factors inducing spatial variability in the productivity of sugarcane crops* [Full subscriber]

Abstract A study was conducted on three sugarcane plots located in the Cauca river valley, the main cane producing area of Colombia, to address a question that is inherent to the interpretation of maps of spatial variability of sugarcane productivity: What factors induce variability in crop productivity at the plot level? The percentage weight of soil physical and chemical properties affecting crop productivity were determined, and maps of spatial variability were generated using geostatistics to train a multilayer perceptron neural network.
