Evaluation of a reduced extraction time to improve the efficiency of routine analysis of resin extractable phosphorus and sulphur* [Full subscriber]

Abstract Phosphorus (P) and sulphur (S) are essential plant nutrients that are routinely measured for plant available levels in soil samples for fertiliser advisory purposes. The resin extraction method is an excellent estimator of plant available P and S because it simulates the root environment better than other chemical extractions. However, the method requires a 16-hour extraction time which limits sample turnover for routine analysis.
