Establishing extension services through a research, technology development, extension and grower continuum – a case study* [Full subscriber]

Abstract      There is a strong link between research, effective technology exchange and social dynamics in facilitating effective adoption of new technologies in agriculture. The adoption of new technology is, however, often slow and erratic, especially in more remote and isolated communities. In this case study, the aim was to demonstrate the value of a strong multi-directional link between formal research, technology development and a strategic extension approach that takes social dynamics into consideration.
