Energy efficiency improvements at Millaquin mill [Full subscriber]

Abstract Millaquin mill operates the boiler station for 12 months per year to supply steam to the adjacent sugar refinery and distillery in addition to the mill process during the crushing season. Prior to 2010, up to 20 000 tonnes of coal per year was required. As part of the mill upgrade program commenced in 2009, a number of energy efficiency projects were undertaken to reduce fuel costs and to limit the potential carbon tax liability.
