Can a mill crush 67% more cane without capital expenditure? [Full subscriber]

Abstract Assuming that the cane supply for a season increased by 40 t/ha, would a mill be able to crush the total crop with little or no capital expenditure? The paper uses three scenarios to explore possible answers. A base case looks at conditions found in Southern Africa for mills producing sugar and final molasses in a 35 week season.
