Pakistan – Exports of 500,000 t sugar approved along with 20% duty on imports [Registered]

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on November 12 allowed exporting 500,000 tonnes of surplus sugar and imposed a 20% regulatory duty on imports of the sweetener, according to local press reports. The ECC allowed export of surplus sugar as recommended by the Ministry of Industries and Production with the condition that exports be made against an irrevocable letter of credit or a firm contract with 15% non-refundable advance payment.
