Nitrogen fertilizer production from lignocellulosic feedstocks [Registered]

The US firm SynGest plans to build a plant in MenIo, Iowa that will produce biobased ammonia fertilizer. The facility will be capable of processing 130,000 tonnes of corn cobs annually to manufacture 50,000 t of bio-ammonia. At current prices, this amounts to revenues of between U$25 million and U$35 million annually. The plant will be operational by end of 2013. Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) has agreed to provide front-end engineering (FEED) support and a wide range of technology that will comprise the plant’s fully integrated control system, including its Experion® Process Knowledge System, UniSim® process simulators and field instrumentation.…
