Nicaragua â Record sugar output for 2011-12 likely [Registered]
Nicaragua is expected to produce 604,602 tons of sugar in for the 2011-2012 campaign. This is 18.5% higher than the previous year, and to date, highest in the country’s history, according to the CEO of the National Council of Sugar Producers, Mario Amador. Amador noted that the high output is informed by expansion in cane acreage by about 5000 hectares along with improved crop management (with cane yields increasing from previous year’s 84 t/ha to 90 t/ha) and improved sugar recovery at mills.
