New sugar complex in Cameroon [Registered]

Cameroonian and Indian investors plan to invest 60 billion CFA francs ($112.7 million) for a new sugar complex that includes cane production, 4000 tonnes cane/day sugar factory and a 16 MW cogen plant, reports Reuters. Once operational, the plant will produce 60,000 tonnes of refined sugar per year by 2014, Justin Sugar Mills SA said in a statement. Justin Sugar Mills owns over 155,000 acres of land in Bertoua in Cameroon’s East Region where the complex is sited. The proposed complex will generate significant number of jobs.
