New demonstration plant will showcase Sud-Chemie’s cellulosic ethanol production technology [Registered]

Construction of a demonstration plant to showcase Sud-Chemie’s cellulosic ethanol production technology has commenced in Straubing (Lower Bavaria, Germany). In the presence of Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Martin Zeil, the ceremony for the project funded by the Bavarian state government and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) was held on 26 July 2011. The plant’s capacity is 1000 tonnes cellulosic ethanol per year. Feedstock will be wheat straw from neighbouring farms. The plant will be fully operational beginning of next year.
