Market Overview Continued bearishness on global sugar price is informed by net short position in white sugar futures on NYSE LIFFE. Large sugar stocks built up over the past three years from global surplus has dented concerns of reduced ouput in Brazil from drought. Raw sugar prices started July at 18.82 cents/lb drifted to 17.72 cents/lb at the end of the month. White sugar futures in London posted further losses with the most active October contract falling $4.10 to settle at $430.60 a tonne, while second-month December gave up $3.90 to $446.20 a tonne.
